Ashlee Simpson
Ali Larter

Christina, Ashlee, Ali and Halle... let's talk straight. All four have straight hair, but they all look different. Let me clue you in on how to get these looks quickly and easily.

I'd say Christina and Ashlee have the straightest hair out of the bunch. For both of these styles, feel free to use lots of conditioner. Not at the scalp, but on everything you can grab from ears down. What I do is rinse the conditioner out, reapply and rinse again, or what I call double conditioning.

On towel-dried hair apply my prawduct® The Flat Factor. Use about a nickel-size amount for Christina’s look, and a little less than a quarter-size if your hair is like Ashlee’s. Don’t apply it directly to the scalp or the first inch or so of hair, unless you have very curly or frizzy hair. Take my prawduct® Super Volumizing Tonic and mist it at the scalp and base of the hair.

Using the Olivia Garden Paddle Brush, blow-dry your hair by brushing it from side to side, front to back and back to front. This will get your hair straight and with a little root lift. Once dry establish your part. Christina has a right side part while Ashlee has hers in the center. I have two flat irons from FHI Heat that I love. The four-tenth-inch is perfect to do your hairline and part. I always do a small section on each side of the part and the hair that falls over the crown with this iron. The other is the one-inch. It’s the perfect size, and if your ends are fragile or dry, you can turn the heat down to save them.

For both of these styles do the entire head with the one-inch iron and on each side of the part use the four-tenth-inch. Use a comb to make sure the hair is not kinked or crossing over each other. When finished, I would follow with a generous mist of my prawduct® Love That Shine Spray. It will drench your hair in weight-less, yummy shine!

Halle and Ali have straight hair, but with more root lift and arc to it. On damp hair apply my prawduct® Rawhold Gel to your fingertips and work it into the root area and down the hair shaft a few inches. Then use a small amount of prawduct® The Flat Factor, rubbed between your palms, and comb it through the remaining hair. Using the large Olivia Garden Turbo Vent Oval brush, blow-dry your hair like the gals pictured here, but tip your head over and brush the same way – front to back, back to front and side-to-side. Tipping over will ensure the most root lift possible. Once dry, flip your head back over.

If you want Ali’s look, brush your hair around the whole front area back and up. If your hair is in really good condition it may want to fall forward. An easy solution is to use my prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray. Mist around the hairline and use the dryer on low heat. You can layer the prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray to give it more texture. Just reapply several times until you can see that the hair has texture and holding power.

Halle BerryFor both styles use the oval brush, grabbing large sections that you have elevated using the dryer on low heat. Brush through the hair up, out and then down (this is what will finish off the “C” or arc shape, giving the ends a gentle bend). Ali’s hair has some backcombing on the top, sides and crown. Do the same, most a little prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray over the back combing, then comb the top layer gently back making sure to smooth it out perfectly. Holding your hair mid-shaft, brush through gently and finish with prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray to keep it in place. Follow with prawduct® Love That Shine Spray for a dose of amazing shine!

Halle’s look has some fringe. With your dryer and your Turbo Vent Oval Brush, smooth and direct your fringe, as well as all those beautiful layers that surround your face. Now use some of my prawduct® Dream Cream on your palms, flip your head over and gently work the product through your hair all the way to the root area. Flip back over, shake it out and with the remaining prawduct® Dream Cream grab your ends here and there to connect the ends, giving it a chunkier look. Finish off with some prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray sprayed up into your hair. Use prawduct® Love That Shine Spray or try prawduct® Love That Shine Drops for fantastic shine, as well as a little more texture, which is what makes this style look so great!

Angelina Jolie and America Ferrara

Angelina JolieAmerica and Angelina are back to basics with a simple, quick and easy blow-dry that takes even less time now with my favorite new tools that save time while protecting your hair! On clean damp hair spray prawduct® Super Volumizing through your hair. Tip your head over and gently finger-through your hair while blow-drying, pull at the top to get some root lift. My new favorite dryer is the FHI Heat Nano Weight Pro Turbo. It’s half the size of a traditional dryer, weighs almost nothing and gets your hair dry in a flash.

America FerraraWhen your hair is almost dry tip your head back over. Now blow-dry, elevating sections slightly, using the new Turbo Vent Oval Brush from Olivia Garden, which has a vent brush on one side for fast drying and boar bristles on the other side for smoothing and refining. I like to use the cold button on this dryer. It helps to close the cuticle and sets the shape. When hair is dry, brush using the boar bristle side of the brush. Both of these beauties have chosen an off-center left part, but you don’t have to. Find the best part for your face shape. Use the retractable pick on the end of the handle of your brush to help create a part that’s clean and defined.

Now I would mist a little of my prawduct® Love That Shine Spray directly onto the vent side of the brush and then brush through hair gently. This technique will break up the texture slightly, while giving your hair great shine. Finish with my prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray misted gently over the top and front.

Christy Brinkley, Emmy Rossum and Andrea Bown

On clean damp hair, spray my prawduct® Super Volumizing Tonic throughout, tip your head over and rough-dry. Just before it’s completely dry use the blow dryer and a good quality paddle brush (I use the Olivia Garden XL Pro with ball point tips). While drying brush your hair front to back, back to front and finally from ear to ear. This technique helps pull out any areas with texture problems and gives your hair a nice root lift.

Now heat up a couple different sized curling irons. I like the Fusion Tools irons because they are dependable, good quality irons and they have temperature gauge. I can turn the heat down to save the hair from too much heat.

Christy BrinkleyTo get Christy’s look use a one-inch iron, wrapping the hair in a spiral from the roots to the ends. Also wrap towards the face leaving out the top and fringe. Now use the boar bristle side of the paddle brush, rolling the hair down towards the face. The exact look here has a very interesting part. It’s from center-crown to just above the right temple. Swoop the fringe over your forehead and use some prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray to help secure fringe and top. Finger-through the curled hair to gently separate the curl. Loosely grab the hair just behind the right ear, directing it down slightly and toward the left lower ear area. Sort of shake it a little to relax the section of hair and let some fall out. Use a few hair pins or hidden bobby pins to gently secure the hair. Allow the hair at the right ear to fall forward. Use my prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray to secure the look and follow with prawduct® Love That Shine Spray for beautiful shine.

Emmy RossumFor Emmy and Andrea, use both irons and spiral curl the hair from near the top of your head to the ends. Don’t try to be neat because the purpose here is to get curl and texture without a definite set look. When you’re done curling, grab that boar bristle side of the oval brush and blow-out your fringe and top. Finger-through the curls with a little prawduct® Love That Shine Drops on your fingertips.

Andrea BowenTo get Emmy’s look, set your part on the center-left side. Rub a little prawduct® Dream Cream between your palms and fingertips. Lift your hands up, palms towards your ears and thumbs pointing behind, and grab the hair from ear to ear with your thumbs, pulling it back like a high ponytail. Make a small ponytail securing it slightly up, or as we hairdressers say, “lift and over direct.” Keep it in place with a bobby pin (hidden) and finish with prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray and prawduct® Love That Shine Spray.

For Andrea’s look, part on the left side and use some of my prawduct® Dream Cream rubbed over palms. Then run your fingers and palms through your hair, occasionally lifting and shaking your hair with your hand. Doing this with the prawduct® Dream Cream will give you texture and width without back-combing. Now you can tip your head from side to side and spray up into the hair with prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray to maintain the volume without it looking like a helmet. Finish with a mist of prawduct® Love That Shine Spray to pump up the shine. You’ve got it… sexy, shiny hair!

Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Marcia Cross
BeyoncéBeyoncé, Jennifer and Marcia – beautiful, healthy, sexy hair enhanced by skin that’s so fresh. What a perfect combination! The set is basically the same for all three looks. The part is almost the same as well. The real subtle difference here is the structure of the cut. Marcia’s style has no layers, while the other two have long layers that frame their faces.Jennifer Lopez

Rough-dry your hair with my prawduct® Rawhold Gel that has been combed through. If your hair is curly or frizzy, work a small amount of my prawduct® The Flat Factor after the Rawhold Gel. It will relax the curl and calm the frizz. Now set your hair with hot rollers using a basic brick pattern. I like to use the Caruso steamrollers because they protect your hair and give a longer lasting set as well. Marcia CrossUse the large and medium rollers an hit them with a little heat from your dryer after the rollers are in.

When the rollers are cool (about 10 to 15 minutres), remove them and brush your hair with the boar bristle side of your Turbo Bent Oval Brush from Olivia Garden. Spray the bristles with prawduct® Love That Shine Spray before brushing.

Establish a part that looks the best on you and back-comb where you might need some extra help with shape. For some it’s at the crown, while for others it’s the sides. Finish with my prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray that helps secure the style!

Kate Hudson, Elizabeth Hurley, Kate Walsh,
and Vanessa Minnillo
Kate HudsonKate, Elizabeth, Kate and Vanessa each one with such beautiful texture! My favorite new lifesaver for curling, smoothing or giving hair texture is called Curlformers. They are hair curling spirals (think mesh corkscrew pasta.) The mesh allows the air to get in to dry the hair, while softening any frizz. Best of all they leave the hair with curls that are from roots to ends. A conventional hot roller will never do that.

Elizabeth HurleyFor Kate Hudson’s look, use a combo of the long and wide Curlformers, mixed with long and narrow. They are different sizes with different directions used together they will give your hair a similar curl and texture. Spray my prawduct® Super Volumizing Tonic on each section before applying the Curlformer. Do your entire head, stopping at the top and crown. Now hit them with a blow dryer or if you have time you can leave them to air ry – you can even sleep in them! Blow-dry the top of a round brush. My choice is the Turbo Vent Boar two and half-inch from Olivia Garden. Use my Super Volumizing tonic for lift. Remove the Curlformers when dry, rub some prawduct® Love That Shine Drops between your palms and run through the curls to separate them slightly. Finger-through the top as well to integrate the textures and find the center part. At this point I like to use my prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray sprayed into the top. Let dry and finger-through again for texture and hold without the sticky helmet effect.

Kate WalshElizabeth and Kate Walsh both have a slightly straighter texture. The trick here is to use a little more hair in each Curlformer and use only the long and wide size. Follow the same exact steps as for Kate. Choose the part you prefer, and if you want a little lift in front like Elizabeth has, simply use prawduct® Rawhold Hairspray sprayed at the root area while holding it up. Allow to dry and gently comb or brush it through. If you want Kate Walsh’s fringe, use a little prawduct® Dream Cream on your palms. Comb the hair across your forehead fromleft to right and rub your palms over it, gently pressing it flat. The prawduct® Dream Cream will help keep the hair close to the head, giving it shine without stiffness.

Vanessa MinnilloNow Vanessa has more polished curl pattern that falls in the same direction. She also has some lift at the base. Use the extra long wide size Curlformers, but use one color on one side of your head and the other color on the other side. The colors help you understand the direction of the curl. Follow the steps from the looks above, but don’t put too much hair in each Curlformer. After the hair is dry, remove them gently and back-comb the top and crown. Use the Olivia Garden Supreme Special Blend Brush to smooth out the top after back-combing and to direct the hair from the far left part over the crown. Now brush through the curls very gently, being careful not to separate the but to fluff the curl. Follow with my Rawhold Hairspray misted over the top and fringe. Finish with a generous spritz of my prawduct® Love That Shine Spray over the entire hairstyle to give these fantastic curls an amazing extra boost of shine!
